Neighbors in Need Program
Seeing Clearly at Southgate Surgery Center

Southgate Surgery Center (SSC) is excited to announce our Neighbors In Need Program which offers no charge cataract surgery to patients who are uninsured and have no means to pay out of pocket for the procedure.

  

SSC is donating the facility, surgical supplies and lens implants to qualifying Neighbors in Need cataract patients while the surgeons from Castleman Eye Center, anesthesiologists from Metropolitan Anesthesia Consultants and CRNAs from SCL all donate their services.

Patients must meet certain criteria, such as:
  • No health insurance coverage
  • No financial means of affording cataract surgery due to economic hardship. (must provide documentation)
  • Patient is unable to drive, work and/or function without assistance in their day to day activities.
  • Patient has no other eye disease that could possibly interfere with outcome or preclude them from having     surgery.

  

If eligible, all who inquire will be provided the initial exam, pre-op testing, surgical counseling, post op visits for 90 days, surgeon fee, anesthesia fee, surgical supplies, lens implant, and operating room fees. This program does not cover lifetime eye care or other eye diseases that may exist. Patient must be willing to sign affidavit stating they have no health insurance and no financial means.
